10.) From 2013 to the present I have played first and second clarinet in The Lakewood High School Marching Band. I have performed at multiple football games, festivals, and parades over the years and it is something I truly enjoy. In August of 2015 I began attending C-Tec of Licking County’s cosmetology program. Upon graduation and completion of the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology exam I will have my cosmetologist license that will allow me to professionally perform services on clients and work at any salon in Ohio. By attending C-Tec’s cosmetology program I automatically became a member of Skillsusa. This past January I competed in a local cosmetology competition and won. I am now scheduled to compete in a regional competition at the end of …show more content…
From May 2015 to the present I have been employed as a receptionist at Great Clips- Southgate Plaza in Heath. This job has allowed me to receive first hand experience in the cosmetology industry while earning some extra money. In June of 2016 I began interning under the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology’s internship program at the same salon. I have been given the opportunity to practice and learn new techniques while gaining State Board hours.
12.) I participate in Student Leadership Team at C-Tec. I volunteered at multiple community events such as our annual open house and our schools evening of exploration. One of our most important duties is to host student run tours and other events to peak new students interest in attending C-Tec. Without our service younger students would never get to experience the unique qualities of C-Tec. I currently have obtained 25 volunteer hours. In addition, as part of my career tech program I volunteer at multiple local nursing homes. A couple of times a month we provide manicure services and company for our county’s elderly. It’s a wonderful opportunity for me to practice my skills while building relationships with others. I love seeing how happy the residents are when we arrive and having the chance to brighten their

What I enjoyed most was the labs, that allowed me to learn about chemical reactions and changes while creating something new. During my first year of cosmetology school I attended Wella cosmetology education class that once again peaked my interest in chemistry. During the class, I met with a cosmetologist that worked alongside a chemist to formulate and produce Wella’s new product line. I then realized that I could combine my love of both the cosmetology industry and chemistry by attending college and becoming a cosmetic chemist.
The summer before my senior year, my enthusiasm led me to experiment, by formulating my own hair products from natural ingredients such as coconut oil and vegetable glycerin. As the year has progressed, I have expanded my experimentation and I am currently in the midst of perfecting my own natural shampoo and conditioner. By utilizing different natural ingredients and performing different trials on contrasting categories of hair I have not only discovered how to create my own hair products, I have unearthed my
