I know in my soul that God put me on Earth to serve others, so I am dedicating my life to becoming an educator. I want to help students discover themselves by teaching the intellectual and moral standards of our society and encouraging them to implement those ideals in a way that will enrich not only the student but society as a whole.
I’ve been a nanny for the past two years and plan to continue in this position throughout college. Not only does this job allow me to pay for expenses, but the satisfaction and experienced gained is immeasurable. I’m extremely thankful for my job because it enriches my experience with children outside of a school environment. I currently live with my parents, but it’s my responsibility to pay for college and expenses. I’ve found pride and strength in the fact that I’m responsible for my success.

While the majority of my volunteer experience was throughout high school, the event that started my path of volunteerism impacted my life significantly. At eleven years old, I discovered my charitable desire after experiencing the intrinsic value gained from helping others. My church group decided to “adopt” a struggling family; a grandmother responsible for eight young children and unable to pay bills. These children were debating dropping out of school and getting in legal trouble. Our entire church donated, resulting in several boxes full of resources for the family. That weekend, my church group hosted a picnic at a park where we spoke one on one with the children to help get them back on track by helping them realize their full potential. I still remember sitting on the playground reflecting upon this experience, and I felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment and pure joy. From then on, I knew my purpose in life is to serve
