2017 Leadership Essay Band, at least for me, is a place that I am able to escape from the worries of the outside world and do what I love. This year, there were many times that I felt overwhelmed and stressed, and the band room was always there, full of people who would help and support through whatever problem I was having. The majority of people who helped me were in leadership, almost every single one. I am so grateful for the care I received, and I think that the best way for me to be able to give it back to next year’s freshman is to be in leadership, because that is where the people who helped me were. They helped me through all of it and I aspire to be what they were to me to someone else. If I can help even just one person, then I will be satisfied with my work. I have been doing the best I can to appear as a leader during Once Upon a Time, whether it be helping my fellow freshman flutes with music and ripples during band when we could have been talking, or emotionally when some of them said that they felt they didn’t have what it took to continue in band. I did my best to show improvement, going from failing miserably on my memorization test to doing much better than I had hoped during auditions. When it comes to leaders breaking rules of the band or school, I see that as unacceptable and disrespectful to the band program unless there is a reason for it that makes sense. However, in most cases breaking the rules is wrong, especially if you are in leadership. Breaking the rules while in leadership shows others that it is ok to break the rules, and that could have very adverse effects on the image of the band program at RBV. I will stop people, especially leaders, from breaking the rules by explaining to them why it hurts people besides themselves. I would work hard to get into leadership the next year and do my absolute best to prove that I am worthy of a leadership position. I would never give up or quit band, nor would I stop loving band. Band is too important to me to throw away because I didn’t make leadership, it would inspire me and give me the fuel to work as hard as possible to get into leadership thee next year. In the chance that there is eternal leadership conflict, I think it is important to identify the root of the problem, figure out the cause, and find a clear and positive way to resolve the issue. If a leadership member is caught causing conflict multiple times, I think that that person should be removed from the leadership team. Leadership has too much work and responsibilities to worry about conflicts, I think that most people would rise above those situations and see the bigger
