Hello Colleagues. I’m originally from New Jersey but have lived most of my adult life in Miami Beach. I love being around the sun, sand, sea and especially enjoy ribbing my northern friends during the winter and often send them selfies while sipping cocktails on the beach. I suffer from the wanderlust and have traveled to 85 countries. I have traveled internationally for most of my professional career and just returned from living in Dubai and Singapore for the past 5 years. As much as I enjoy travel, it’s always good to come back home. Unlike many of the posts I have read, I am new to academic teaching at the collegiate level. I have always considered myself a teacher of sorts. I was with AT&T for 12 years and had many managerial roles from Six Sigma Quality Improvement lead, Operational Manager, and Client Services. I always considered myself a mentor, trainer, coach and developmental manager and will lean on those skills sets when working with students. At AT&T, I obtained my MBA with a concentration in Marketing and International Business while I was working full time. It was challenging to juggle work and academic schedule and …show more content…

If it was an organizational behavior class or marketing communication; it was fodder for reexamining my team approach to addressing business opportunities. I’m sure this will be the case as well for many of our students. To the extent that those real life applications of academic principles can be drawn out via discussions boards, it will make the entire class more relevant to that student and their peers. This concept is addressed in The Adult Learning Theory – Andragogy by Malcolm Shepherd Knowles as the author states in concept that “Adults are most interested in learning subjects that have immediate relevance and impact to their job or personal life.” Pappas, C.
