Spoke to Vivian Ortiz (DOB 6/20/75) who stated that her juvenile son (16 years old), Elijah Perez (DOB 7/3/99), was being destructive and threw things around the house when she asked him to turn off the oven after he used it. Ortiz stated Perez had been diagnosed with intermittent explosive disorder and he had not been taking his medication or to his therapy. Ortiz also mentioned that she opened the case with DYFS to evaluate him and the case was still opened. Ortiz stated that Perez threw some baseball cards, laundry bin, trashes and made mess inside of the refrigerator. We weren’t able to speak with Perez as he walked out of the house prior to our arrival.

A member of America’s Greatest Generation, who answered our nation’s call during World War II, has been denied the honor of being laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. The ashes of Elaine Harmon, who contributed mightily to the war, currently occupy a closet in the home of her daughter. Terry Harmon says her mother’s ashes will remain in that closet until they are placed at Arlington, along with her fellow veterans. A global conflict such as World War II required mobilization of our nation’s population on a scale previously unimaginable – and that included women.
The female wage earners were often white, young, and unmarried. Most young women would expect to spend their money on things that are enticing to them (makeup, clothing, etc.). However, they were expected to contribute to their households with sharing their wages. They were not permitted to spend their paychecks frivolously and expected to pitch in to help with their families’ costs. Though there were 3.6 million women working in nonagricultural jobs, their pay was a “third to half of the pay for men” (Dubois, 295).

Clinical medicine and science are inherently inseparable entities. Scientific advances and discoveries will perpetually influence any career in the medical profession. This was an idea I learned early on during my undergraduate education. However, my own interest in science spans further than using it as a means to an end. The process of developing theories and conducting experiments enthralls me.
I want to be a physician because I want people to grow old. At the age of 6, one of my closest friends was diagnosed with leukemia. By age 8, the disease claimed his life, robbing him of the opportunity to experience the privilege of growing old. Unfortunately, we live in a society of vanity. We see the process of aging and choose not to embrace it.

Jane needs to learn and develop coping mechanisms to face these trouble shooters. Failure is a normal part of achieving, you have to learn effective ways to achieve again, once failure is experienced; this is the true measure of success. Maybe Jane has lived an almost well-rounded and perfect life; being the youngest child, still living at home, relationships, in school and working. With a disorder like anxiety, many individuals are perfectionist and that can cause anxious feeling, when things are not or assumed to be perfect.
Personal Statement I come from a large family with relatives from a little ranch in Chihuahua, Mexico. Many of which have never made it past grade school. Mainly due to their mother, my grandma, she had fallen very ill. Due to her condition and lack of money my aunts and uncles dropped out of school to work and help pay for her medication and medical expenses. The older siblings had to take care of the younger siblings.

By joining the network of NYU, I will be able to study at an institution that has a long tradition of academic excellence among private universities in the United States.
