There have been a lot of experiences, and events in my life that have impacted me for my future in a positive way. One such experience is my current job as a Pastor at my church. In the fall of 2014, I was blessed with the opportunity of taking the position of being the Children’s Pastor at my home church, Pueblo Christian Center. I prayed about it for a couple of weeks before taking the position, and I really felt like the Lord was telling me to take it. It has been instrumental in helping me develop my passion, and goals. It is important to have joy in every circumstance, because with it comes thanksgiving, and with thanksgiving comes purpose. I believe having the experience of being a pastor will influence my academic work and goals at CCU by allowing me to develop more of a passion for people, and how to communicate effectively. I have had several encounters with children who are walking through rough times who I’ve been able to counsel over the last eight months. The Lord has given me a desire to step into people’s lives, and work through their struggles with them. This desire has caused me to have an interest in furthering my education to gain more knowledge in counseling and psychology. Being constantly surrounded by people who are walking through trials, I have developed a hunger to know how to go about helping them in a more professional way. Unlike some young people, I am anxious and excited about taking classes to not only better myself in my desired area of learning, but to grow in who I am as a person. I believe my experience in working with people on a weekly basis has provided me with urgency in wanting to know more about how I can help
