Upon entering pharmacy school, my main mission has been find a career that would allow me to serve my community and build strong relationships based on a team approach to care with patients. I want to be the person people come to fro assistance, guidance, and support; ultimately leading them to a path to achieving a desired health outcome. Over the course of my time here at the college of pharmacy, I have aimed to take a step closer to my goal by professionally developing myself through my education, extracurricular activities, and self-reflection. Upon entering pharmacy school, I was able hold my first leadership role as chapter Historian. As Historian, I managed the organizations social media, webpage, and biannual newsletter. It was during this time that I learned about the importance of promotion and how it could be used as a platform to spread a positive message. Inspired by the work I had done on the local level, I decided to run and was selected to serve as a member of SNPhA’s National Diabetes Committee. As a member of the committee, I worked on promoting our organizations diabetes awareness campaigns and engaging local chapters through social media challenges. After spending my time speaking on and promoting service, I found myself looking for an opportunity to plan an organize service events. I got the chance to fulfill this wish when I took on a role as one of Phi Delta Chi’s service chair. My co-chairs and I have since been able to host health fairs in our community. As a member of this college, I have tried to pass my own knowledge and experiences to assist the college and my peers. As the Editor in Chief of the Script, I pushed for content that would inform and motivate students to pursue their dreams. I also made a point to include content that would stress the importance of advocating and policy. As a member of the Student Orientation Games Committee, I helped assist the orientation coordinators give a warm welcome to the incoming class with fun activities. Finally, as a member of Pharmacy Council, I have had the opportunity to work with fellow classmates to represent our student body. This past summer, I was able to participate in the University of Houston College of Pharmacy Summit where I was able to have discussions with fellow students and faculty about issues the student body have been facing and ways we could change for the advancement of our college as a collective
