Life does not always go as planned but if you have goals and are doing everything you can to reach those goals you will eventually become successful. This has been my motivation these past few months of my life. I had a goal set since middle school to become a Civil Engineer. Although the path to getting there has been skewed every step of the way, I still believe that I'm on the right track to reach success and North Carolina State University is the best convoy on the road to reach my destination. By taking a class like Technology in high school and joining the engineering and robotics club I gained more knowledge of different engineering fields and believed that civil engineering is the best field. After high school I had a plan, I knew I was going to attend Birmingham-Southern college and play football for 3 years then transfer to Georgia Tech to get my degree. This did not necessarily go as planned after a semester at BSC my family ran into financial problems and I was unable to continue there. My plan B was to transfer to the University of West Georgia and continue taking my prerequisites before transferring to Georgia Tech. While attending the University of West Georgia somewhere down the line I lost my drive and determination that I had since middle school. I was sucked into the cliché of partying and procrastination my first two semesters there. I just lost myself and began questioning did I even want to continue school. After and near fatal car accident that put me and everyone else in the car in the hospital I continued school with a new attitude. My final semester at West Georgia I buckled down and my grades improved. Now I'm at this period in my life where I am trying to make improve as a student and a person. I can say college has taught me not to give up in anything that I do so when the opportunity presented itself to move to North Carolina and to attend North Carolina State University I knew I had to at least try to get into their engineering program. As a NDS student I have the opportunity to take classes that I need to become closer to getting my degree, improve my GPA, and be enrolled in classes at one of the top higher institutes of learning in the southeast region of the United
