How I chose my academic major and how earning this degree will impact my future goals
Business management is a popular degree among universities and to be considered for a place, many universities require candidates to have scored at least three As at A level (Stukalina 73). Whereas grades will help in getting a place in the university and pursuing a Business Management course, I believe that passion will get me to attain a degree in business management and have a successful career. Ever since I was young, I have been good at planning and organizing and these attributes have enabled me to effectively perform tasks and duties in the individual and group setting. Effective communication is a two-way concept in that there should be communication and feedback between employees and management (Barbars 108). Each individual likes being treated with respect and dignity and in the workplace, these two factors really matter. As I have learnt, failing to take the concerns of employees seriously negatively affects the team leading to dissatisfied, demoralized and demotivated employees. Worse still is when the manager fails to appreciate hard work when an employee did his or her best to manage a situation. I have also worked under managers who only care about budgets goals and failing to provide the resources needed to for the immense workload. Personally, I have witnessed employees struggle to finish hard and time consuming tasks with minimal resources. The worst part is that managers did not …show more content…

Firstly, I will be better positioned to treat junior employees better and accord them the respect and dignity they deserve. Secondly, I will be an advocate for good management practices that combines theory and practice as well as experience. Since I have experienced firsthand bad management, and how it negatively impacts employees and teams, when I become a manager or supervisor at a service-based business, I would hope to better treat my juniors and help them cope with work as well as family pressures by listening to them and offering solutions where I can. Since I am also considering opening up a business management consultation service, I would be better position to help many businesses and entities with advice and training on good management skills at the business level (Wesarat, Sharif and Majid
