“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” Nelson Mandela, once a South African president and activist, said in regards of education. Getting a higher education in a university will give me the necessary education for pursuing the career of psychology. My career goal is to first get a bachelor’s degree in psychology, then a master’s degree in clinical counseling, and ultimately get state certification for practice and be an instrument of positive influence to individuals and families in my community.
Since I was a kid, I went through family tragedies such as the death of a close relative. I saw relatives struggle with personal issues, depression, and anxiety. I also went thru my parents getting divorced when …show more content…

I will have to transfer to a University to complete my bachelor’s degree. The most significant challenges that I expect to face in successfully completing the University degree are accommodating work and school time. I’m also happily married and have a beautiful 5 year old daughter, so valuable time for my family is also required. For quite some time I have developed strategies for using time wisely. I have money budgets and plan calendars that remind me of what are my priorities and task for each day. For the past five years, I’ve work as a CNC programmer that has keep my mind fresh in critical thinking and problem solving. Working at a well organized company has given me the ability to work on schedule and be able to prioritize efficiently. I have learned a lot from personal experience about managing time and work prioritization. And adding the hard school work I’m committed to accomplish, the passion to help people, and dedication for continuing my education. I will be able overcome any challenges that come forward.
