If all we ever did in life was wake up, go to school, come home, eat dinner, and go to bed life would be quite boring. To make my life more interesting, I participate in a couple after school activities that give me something to look forward to. First of all, I’m a competitive swimmer on the Thunder Bay Thunderbolts. I’ve been swimming competitively since I was 8, but only recently switched teams to the Bolts. We have a vigorous training schedule that keeps us quite busy. I enjoy swimming because it gives me something to focus all of my energy on and when I’m training, I’m not thinking about anything else going on in my life. It’s a way to use your personal capabilities and interests to make an impact on the world. It has always been an interest to me as I have a strong passion for helping people in ways they can’t help themselves. I also like it because it’s constantly evolving and there are always new discoveries being made that revolutionize the practice of medicine. My goal is to become a surgeon, and I want to research and make some of those significant discoveries myself. Similarly, this allows me to prioritize the order of what to do based on the importance of the tasks. Throughout my schooling, this method has allowed me to stay above my school work and still participate in the extracurriculars that I love. Furthermore, an interesting fact about me is that I am an avid outdoors person. My Dad owned a hunting and fishing resort when I was younger, so lots of my childhood consisted of being outside. He no longer owns the resort, but being outside has continued to be a huge part of my life. I enjoy being outdoors so much because it makes me feel connected to what’s around me and it calms me down. Some of my favourite things are quading, fishing, tubing, and a new favourite of mine is waterskiing. I think these two things really summarize the most interesting and important things about me because even though I’m a very organized hard working person, I still love to unwind and spend quality time with my friends and
