I am a sophomore this year at Purdue University, I am majoring in Agriculture Systems Management and minoring in Horticulture. I have loved agriculture ever since I can remember, I grew up on my family’s dairy farm milking cows. Since growing up on the dairy farm, I realized that staying on the farm my entire life is not something I want to do. I also realized that I didn’t want to study anything relating to dairy farming, even though I loved growing up on the farm, it is just not my passion. I took a horticulture class in high school and started managing our high school’s greenhouse. It was in no time that I realized horticulture is my passion. I currently work at Purdue’s greenhouses, doing research. I take a lot of lab samples, tend to the plants, and help with overall care of the greenhouses I work in. I enjoy working with research and getting some lab experience also, but I am planning on switching positions to work with the management team. I want to gain basic knowledge of everything that goes on in the greenhouses, which is why I like working both the experimental and growing team as well as the management team. The amount of skills and knowledge that I have learned while working in the greenhouses at Purdue is astonishing. I worked there also last year and have already learned a ton! I love entrepreneurship and hope to one day own my own greenhouse. The reason why I want to study abroad is because I am starting my business plan for starting my own greenhouse and the major component that effects everything is location. I know I don’t want to live in Indiana after graduation, but I haven’t traveled enough to know where I would like to start my
