Since I was little, I have always had an eye for interior design. Whether it was changing my room around or helping my mother redecorate the kitchen, interior design is just something that I really enjoy and hope to pursue. As of right now, my main goal is to do extremely well in high school, graduate and then go on to a school that will provide me with the education that I need to pursue my dream of becoming an interior designer. My enthusiasm and passion for fashion are the main reason that I am applying for the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise. FIDM is a school that requires hard work, dedication, and most importantly, creativity. I believe that I have these qualities, when it pertains to interior design. I have always had an interest in interior designing and I feel that by attending this school, it will give me the tools and education that I will need to be successful in the future. What I truly enjoy about interior designing, is that you can express yourself through your work and your finish products. Interior design is very similar, yet very different from apparel design. It is similar in the sense that you are dealing with fashion and that both need creative and innovative people for the job and I believe that I am one of these people. Interior Design differs when it comes to how you can use the fabric, what you can put it on and what looks correct and that you are dealing with furniture and not clothing, another reason why this major interests me so much. The Interior Design program at FIDM will help me to learn and develop the three disciplines - Commercial, Interior Product design, and Residential.
