Travelling around a lot through out my life has taught me importance of embracing other cultures, from living in Australia on two separate occasions to excursions in the impoverished Dominican Republic. This has made me more open-minded, tolerant and overall a well-rounded individual. The ability to speak Czech and Russian fluently has permitted me to build bridges between two different cultures and become more culturally diverse. Having a global perspective has allowed me to be culturally sensitive; I deem this is essential when working with clients and respecting their cultural background whilst conveying their culturally specific events. Whilst completing my Certificate in Travel and Tourism two years ago, I was required to write a variety of assignments, from units in: marketing, hospitality, customer service and events in the Travel and Tourism industry. …show more content…

Positions of responsibility that I've held include training new staff and working as part of a team to organise events. The most fundamental quality that I have developed volunteering is commitment. Working at the Jockey Club Rooms for over three years has fed my ambition to be an Events Manager. Working on a broad range of events and having the opportunity to take upon a variety of job roles and responsibilities in the company has allowed me to expand my skills and experience in the industry. For example, getting the chance to work in the office as well as shadow the company's current Event Manager and then working front of house has allowed me to be part of the process of organising an event from start to finish.
