When I was first introduced to Physics my Junior year of high school, I became frustrated quickly. While I thought Physics would be a breeze for me, as I have always excelled in math, I quickly realized that I might have overestimated my abilities. Within weeks of beginning my course, I became extremely frustrated and began to doubt that I would ever be able to find success in understanding physics. While I could memorize definitions and formulas, I knew that without a conceptual understanding, I would never be able to fully comprehend what was being taught. With these methods, I found immediate success and quickly began to understand the conceptual piece of physics, not just what could be memorized. While physics may not have been my favorite subject, I quickly changed from finding it almost unbearable to finding it intriguing. Since then, the success I found from teaching myself has stayed with me and allowed me to never let myself be overcome with frustration when I do not understand a topic, as there is always a solution. Through the process of learning to teach myself, I discovered that while every student learns differently, determination ultimately leads to success. While it may have taken time for me to truly understand physics, I never gave up and stayed constant with my efforts to find a solution for my frustrations. I also learned to always take advantage of the resources presented to
