I have been interested in the way creative events are run: how a show makes an audience feel included, why one event will be more successful than another, how a concept can be developed into an experience. This fascination with how the creative industry operates was reinforced during the Production Art’s BTEC course I completed last year; the course helped to develop my creativity in a collaborative environment and focus on improving my practical skills.

I’m looking forward to learning through a creative perspective the underlying principles creative events management has to offer. In particular marketing an event and what is involved in the business and finance side of creative events. As I feel being aware of these are crucial to making …show more content…

I enjoyed exploring my creativity by studying photographic composition, image manipulation, experimental imagery, studio and location photography, and contextual understanding. I always felt that this experience crosses over with creative events as both involve creating an atmosphere either for the individual or an audience.

Pursuing Sociology at A-level made me question my assumptions about how society can alter the way people think and act, it has left me able to think subjectively and make more informed decisions. I have also learnt many new theories and concepts that have further improved my understanding of cultures and social groups. Sociology enabled me to develop my analytical skills through understanding and applying theories in essays and coursework. In terms of makeup and hair it was required I was aware of other roles within the theatre such as costume and stage lighting to be made aware of how other elements can contribute to the ‘the look.’ Although I found success within the theatrical make up side of production similarly to Lewes Light this project helped educate and teach us to understand and attempt a variety of roles throughout. Because of the course expecting us to act professionally and confidently throughout I have excellent interpersonal skills and a professional attitude, coupled with solid organizational skills and the ability to work both as part of a team and on my own initiative.
