Medicine is one of the most interesting, innovative, and respected professions. This profession is also thrilling and varied. I was interested in medicine for a long time. As such, I have volunteered both at a hospital, and at shadowed several physicians. These experiences have confirmed that this is the field that I want to engage in my life’s work. Helping people is my favorite thing to do. With medicine this help can be provided for on several levels. Besides administering treatment, I’ll be able also to give them the tools with which they can help themselves. I was born in South Bend, Indiana. After living for 2 years in South Bend, IN, we moved to Syracuse, NY. At the time my mother was a medical resident, in Psychiatry. As I have observed her over the years, I have been inspired to pursue a career in Medicine. She has worked very diligently, and has overcome many obstacles to enjoy her success today. My mother, is originally from Haiti, having immigrated to the U.S.A., at a young age. Her parents instilled in her the work ethic, and she worked hard in school to become a physician. One of the Hospitals, I volunteered in the Growing up in school, I have also volunteered in two hospitals, as well as doing community service. In one of the Hospital, I volunteered in the Physical Therapy department, and was allowed access right next to physical therapists observed first-hand how they utilize their skills to aid their clients. At the other Hospital, I was involved with patient care, administering to the smaller needs of these patients. These experiences, have confirmed how beneficial medical care is in our society.
