Elliot Sahadeo Personal Statement The course I am applying for is psychology and the reason for this is because I am genuinely curious and want to learn more about the field because I believe the psychology course has so much potential for the future and I’m personally very excited to be a part of this, specifically within psychological studies. This year I am genuinely looking forward to what I will learn in my subjects, not just in psychology, but in my other subjects as well. The topic we are on right now is criminal psychology and it is very interesting to see how the theories do not just apply to the explanation of specific events, but also how these theories (and studies) apply in areas I wouldn’t have considered before my course. Sociology helps me, to not only consider the individual but also what impact a positive or negative interaction they have with others. There are links with some of research methods I will be using that are related to the psychology course, such as surveys to collect primary data For my work experience I did my placement in the history department at a local secondary school that I took part in and the work experience has taught me how children act and behave towards people they see as having authority which I didn’t see before. Over the summer I also volunteered in a charity. The customers varied and conversing with them allowed me to understand people who are very different from myself a lot better and this will help me to learn about other individuals on my psychology course as within my second and third year course
