Personal Statement Shyamsunder Agrawal I identify with Robert Heinlein when he states that “One man 's 'magic ' is another man 's engineering. ‘Supernatural’ is a null word”. I believe engineering is a way to solve many of the issues our world is facing right now. India is one of the fastest developing countries in the world and is in dire need of affordable & sustainable housing and infrastructure. This has led to various research and development works in an effort to xxx, Since childhood, I was infected with curiosity. I was fascinated by the way things work, from dismantling and maintaining my own bike to modeling a lift for apartments as a part of a science exhibition. It is this predilection for understanding the way things work that led me to pursue engineering and I landed into the hallowed portals of Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute to enroll in the one program that promised to help me convert my dreams into reality. The B. Tech in Civil Engineering! The foundation to take on courses at an MS level has been laid down by my experiences as a student of Civil Engineering program. During college I attended several seminars and workshop that added to my knowledge. The subject like ‘Building Construction, ‘Fluid Mechanics’ taught me the basic principles of civil engineering. In the following years, subjects like ‘Construction Equipment and Materials’, ‘Construction Techniques’ and related lab work gave further insight of theory and laws which strengthened my
