The more we can understand about marine life, the more we are advancing as an educated
I am most attracted to Loma Linda University’s mission to make man whole and continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ and its commitment to faith and science. As a Seventh-day Adventist christian, the motto to make man whole has never been more personal than it is now. As I grow in my experience as a christian, to further the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus continues to take center stage. This mission and an understanding of the need for whole person care is something I seek to demonstrate and encourage through my profession as a nurse and involvement in my community.
Millions upon millions of different organisms make their home in the ocean where humans cannot see them. But just because they remain invisible does not mean that do not play a vital role in the understanding of ocean life. Scientists collect and study the different specimens to understand, track, and predict changes within a certain species, identify between male and female, as well as discover new species entirely, and unravel relationships between multiple species (Smithsonian). But the ocean provides not only for the organisms living within in it, but also for humans who depend on the ocean more than many would first think. The ocean produces over fifty percent of the oxygen humans breathe, as well as regulating earth’s temperatures (Smithsonian).
As I think of the University of Mississippi, the aspect that most impresses me, and is an addition to my desire to immerse myself in this prominent learning community is the University's outstanding resources. I am very attracted to the opportunity to explore and learn at the University of Mississippi's science departments. Science has been my academic passion ever since I entered middle school. Since then, I have always wanted to get into the medical field to become a neurologist. I believe the brain is a black box with endless mysteries waiting to be explored.
I am very excited to apply to Full Sail University. Ever since I was little girl there have always been two careers that have sparked my interest and that I’ve wanted to pursue. The first career is Computer Technician, which my Uncle inspired me to play around with computes. He was who taught me a thing or two about computers. He really enjoyed what he does for a living.
My job as a patient care technician allowed me to care for numerous individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Through this experience, I came to the realization that I loved people. I loved hearing their stories and the secret hopes and fears they would share with me in the dead of the night. I realized that I wanted to have a career where I could not only help people, but learn from them as well. I believe a career in the healthcare field would allow me to do this.
What is your nickname/ what would you like to be called? I do not have a nickname so I would prefer to be called by my first name which is Melvin. What program are you enrolled?
All along, I have managed to maintain the principles of ethics and integrity, a strong sense of purpose, and morality, which binds me rigidly. Appointment as student leader in all stages of my school and college life has presented me with opportunity to interact with people, develop organizational and communication skills. My involvement with speech, debate and sports has made me more than just an academic person In the pursuit of excellence and with a passion to reach the highest skills in my discipline, I look upon University of Texas, Arlington a springboard to accomplish my dreams. This esteemed institution can serve as a ladder and enable me to achieve higher aims by providing me the most contemporary input and exposure.
I am Keely Britton and I am enrolled in the Auburn University Adult Education, School of Educational Foundations Leadership and Technology (EFLT) doctoral program. I am writing as a result of speaking extensively with Dr. Gary Waters concerning an assistantship in the athletics department. I am available right away and feel that there exists a perfect fit due to my work experiences, current extracurricular involvement, and personal participation in a comprehensive enhancement program. While on faculty at Florida A&M University I trained approximately fifty graduate students who in turn instructed approximately three hundred seventy-five freshmen in the art of developing mind power by using advanced memory systems and techniques. However, superior speed-reading and comprehension skills buttressed memory training, therefore speed-reading and comprehension training preceded memory training.
Statement of Intent Since I was a little girl, all I wanted to do was make a difference in the world. It was very frustrating living in a small, rural farm town in Ohio, where putting in just a small amount of effort earned me weekly spots on the front page of the local newspaper. Out of my entire graduating class, I was the only student to pioneer forth and venture out of the tristate area. Granted, it was not an easy transition; moving across the country at 18 with little background knowledge of my destination definitely took its toll on me my freshman year.
Marine Biologists don’t just study the saltwater ecosystems; they can also help it. Some people may not be interested in saltwater ecosystems, but that does not mean people don’t
Serving our country and protecting our freedom has always been a dream of mine. Since I was young I have heard stories about my grandfather who served with the Marines in the Pacific Theatre of WWII. Through the years I had always been set on joining the Marines until I moved to Maryland. Once I was exposed to the USNA I started to gather as much information as I could. Luckily, I was able to find a mentor who has served in the Navy and had taught at the Naval Academy.
State University and I possess a common vision. I, like State University, constantly work to explore the limits of nature by exceeding expectations. Long an amateur scientist, it was this drive that brought me to the University of Texas for its Student Science Training Program in 2013. Up to that point science had been my private past time, one I had yet to explore on anyone else’s terms. My time at UT, however, changed that.
My lifelong passion for the ocean has instilled in me a conservationist drive and a scientific desire that pushes me to seek answers. I want to be able to help our oceans, and I want to discover more about the ocean. As a result, I am committed to conservation. The REU program through PIPES will give me the practical knowledge needed to give back to our oceans and create positive changes. Additionally, I believe the challenging courses I have taken throughout my academic career further qualify me for this program.
My interest in Marine Biology stems from both my education in the sciences & also my love of the Ocean & diving. My current Biology A-Level course has inspired me to learn more about how organisms live & interact in the same environment. I find this to be very relevant in terms of Marine Biology, as a reduction in species diversity will have a knock-on effect on the whole ecosystem, this is due to the delicate balance of the marine ecosystem. Another section of the A level course which interests me is the process of eutrophication, this is another way in which my A level course links with Marine Biology, it can have devastating effects on British Canals & lakes, due to the loss of aquatic life from anoxic water conditions. As a Junior Member of the Marine Biology Association I enjoy reading the articles in the twice-yearly magazine & use the journal access to expand my knowledge.
