In the following paper, I will be discussing both the interest I gained for social work as well as my personal values. There will be much about my beliefs and life history. My mindset is everchanging, yet I am dedicated to spending the time on this path and journey of social work. The amount of change I have undergone throughout the developing years of my life have led me to the certain values I carry with me now. I was reintroduced to the idea of a social work career through one of my companions after hearing about the possibility years before. I went to a career fair in my high school and learned about hospice care social work. I remember being so interested because of the feeling of service I have for individuals in need. To be more specific, I feel the urge to help people in need which is what service is all about in this career. The workers explained how much care and patience goes into taking care of humans who are at the end of their times. I want to use my capacity for service to work in Social Work and help individuals who need aid in helping themselves. However, many of us are limited on what we can do to help. I want to help the common local community before I take on the world. One local community problem that I would want to help with is transportation. It is a vital part of surviving today; however, I do not see many public transportation services available across many different communities that I have come across. A lack of public transportation can really harm those in need of it which are usually black and low-income workers (Heaps et al., 2021). In chapter 4, it speaks about how the government supports private non-profit and for-profit social services instead of adding onto their own public entities (DuBois & Miley, 2021). We need to help people when situations like these
