Hello my name is Samantha Aguilar and I am currently attending Fullerton College and just 4 classes away from transferring to my dream school California State University, Fullerton. I am currently switching majors from Psychology to Spanish with a desire to teach students the language at a grade school. I am also in the process of achieving a certificate as a BioLab Technology Technician. My growth as an individual has been deeply shaped by my involvement with the Catholic Church, particularly through the Sacred Heart parish. The congenial atmosphere within the community has provided me with the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share my ethical values. Engaging in discussions, participating in congregational activities, and expanding my intellectual horizons have enriched my spiritual beliefs and broadened my academic perspectives beyond the boundaries of formal education.
During the upbringing of my childhood, I had the privilege of serving as an altar girl, a role that instilled within me values of discipline, unity, and accountability. Throughout my years of regular grade school before college, I was judged and bullied growing up. Even by teachers and counselors. They never believed a young Latina that knew more Spanish than English would make it to college , let alone graduate highschool. Those comments by teachers and peers made me struggle with depression and I even struggled with anxiety. At my lowest point I decided to turn to the Lord and ask him to save me from my own negative mindset.
