My childhood was not most would consider to be easy. Both my mother and father had addiction issues that forced my younger brother and I to care for ourselves. By the time I reached the fifth grade, I had attended five different elementary schools. On the days that I did actually go to school, I was not on time. A few years later, I moved in with my grandparents, and my entire life improved.
My primary goal for attending college is to be financially fit and also use the knowledge I’ve gained to help underprivileged youth achieve their goals. I come from a poor background where I have struggled to make ends meet. I didn’t receive any scholarships to attend college after high school so I skipped it. The cost of college is a burden that I couldn’t have taken. I used the motivation of when I took time away from school surrounded by people in situations I never wanted to be in.
I want to go to college because I want to continue this journey of growth. I want to become the best I can be. I want all the teachers, coaches, and the community that has affected my life to be as proud as I am to lead the largest successful organizations for student’s

Going to college is more than just extending your education. College is a time to make connections, grow as a person, and to prepare for the so-called “real world”. At K-State, I plan to make the most of my opportunities inside and out of the classroom to benefit from the school. Inside the classroom I plan to learn the proper skills and gain the knowledge I need to be a successful member of the work force as soon as I start my career.
Seriously, I think that learning something new is one of the best feelings in the world. The process of acquiring new information is just amazing to me. That’s the reason why I want and why I try to learn as much as I can. I know that it’s impossible to know everything, and nobody would never know everything, but I have a really bug desire of acquiring all the information I can and expand my knowledge every day. As a student, being in class is incredible.
The infamous answer to the question, “What is your primary goal for going to school?” is “to further my education, get a job, and be successful” such a cliché if I must say myself. My goal attending school is to make my family happy, as well as myself. In high school, I did not apply myself like I should have done because I was not sure if college was in my favor. Also, being the child of a single parent wanting to attend college seemed impossible, especially far from home.
Everyone is born with some sort of talent which needs to be developed and practiced. The Honors College offers many great opportunities for students to participate in research, community service, and leadership—all of which help us to enhance our interpersonal skills and prepare us for the job market. My particular area of interest is chemistry: I have always been interested in learning how the human body works, about drug design, and chemistry-mediated drug delivery. I was born and raised in Vietnam where traditional medicines of using herbals, and plant sources for health treatment is practiced widely. I always want to get a chance to do research on medicinal plants to ascertain its efficacy for diseases, and apply into modern medicines or natural health care products.
Why do I want to attend college? College is an honorary achievement and it separates the determined from the undetermined. Owning a college to degree is an honor and an ecstatic feeling. Through college, that job is that much closer in the grasp. Through college, a person can perform at an elite level and really push themselves for greatness.
There are many different things that can impact students in their high school years. Whether these things are friends, activities, or the sports they participate in they all impact the student. Many opportunities are presented to students in high school, although not many impacts the student beyond high school, I believe this opportunity will impact me forever. I would love to be a part of the Early College Program this coming spring. I believe the program will do nothing but help me grow and strive to be a better student and continue being involved.
The reasons why I am attending college Personally, I decided to go to the college because my parents always taught me that a higher-education could offer me a better life. I attended an extraordinary high school in Italy but I wanted to continue my education here in Miami. I am attending college because I will get an excellent job and most like it make more money when I graduate, I will build more knowledge and skills and finally I will have the college experience and make more friends.
Attending college wasn’t an obligation of mine but a choice that I took. My reasons are probably just like everyone else’s at my age. I wanted a better life for myself in the future that didn’t involve living paycheck by paycheck. Obtaining a college degree has such a strong influence on one’s life. College has been a dream of mine since I was little.
What I Expect to Receive from College Starting off, I would like to say college is something that should be taken seriously and not to be put off to the side for the last minute in terms of your work. I believe if you truly want to get one-hundred percent out of college than you truly need to give it your all to receive it back. In other words, if you leave college work for the last minute to be done and only put minimal effort, then you should expect to only get a minimal understanding of the work you do and minimal knowledge of the material. Moving on, the point I am trying perceive is, what I’m expecting to get out of college is if I do my work to my utmost ability, then I shall have the best understanding and knowledge of the material. While that is one main point in my expectations I also have many more things I expect to get from college as a student.
Along the line, I had a change of mind and this time around decided to stay on campus. My going to college has made me good about my language barrier, being in college I was able to develop interpersonal relationships with other ethnic groups, and going to college has made me explore in a different part of the continents. Thinking back, I can remember some basis why I chose to go to college. To start with, my proceeding to college has helped me to break down the conversation among people and knowing most culture from different colonies. Since English is
Instead of doing the same thing every single day, it is beneficial to try new things. When people experience new things, and are introduced to new material, they are learning. Some people do not realize it, but we all learn something new every day. Learning is a relatively permanent change in behavior or knowledge that results from experience. Learning can be adaptive and flexible to meet life’s demand.
