From an early age I was taught the importance of personal integrity and the ability to adapt to any stressful situation that life may throw at you. During my time as a boy scout I was taught to always be prepared and at the service of others. At the end of each campout we were told to “leave this place, better than when you found it” and this lesson has translated into my own life. I want to make the world a better (safer) place than when I found it.
While in middle school I volunteered weekly through my church in an impoverished community located in the Port of Houston neighborhood. I graduated magna cum laude with a 3.71 GPA and the top of my class (in my major, General Business). During the course of my studies I was inducted into numerous prestigious International Honor Societies but the most meaningful were Phi Kappa Phi (top 7.5%) and Beta Gamma Sigma (top 10%, Accredited Business Schools). My induction into the International Honor Society of Beta Gama Sigma was recognized through personal correspondence from Presidents George H.W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama, U.S. Senator John Cornyn, Congressman John Culberson, Mayor Sylvester Turner, and County Judge Ed Emmett. During the induction ceremony for Beta Gamma Sigma, the speaker repeatedly said that being inducted signified that we were the best of the best. These words spoke to me greatly, and the more I reflected on them the more I realized that I want to be the best of the best in everything that I do. When I think of the CIA, I think of the best and the brightest people.
