Disney opened their first park named Disneyland in Anaheim California in 1955, in their quest to create the happiest place on earth. It was shortly followed by Disney world, which was constructed in Orlando Florida in 1971. The Magic Kingdom took 6 years to build, but Disneyworld will never be quite finished. On July 17 1955 when Disneyland had completed construction in just 12 short months.
The value of the STEM system (science, technology, engineering, and math) is steering the education world in a new and positive direction, although some may believe otherwise. While I encounter challenges along the way, I approach them with determination and a growth mindset. Furthermore, my peers and mentors recognize me for my empathy, integrity, and innovative thinking, qualities that distinguish me as an exceptional candidate for Cass Technical High School. Looking ahead, my future goals encompass pursuing higher education and making a meaningful impact in my chosen field. By gaining admission to Cass Technical High School, I am confident that I will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to achieve these aspirations. The school's rigorous curriculum, supportive community, and emphasis on holistic development will undoubtedly propel me towards my goals.
I regard the STEM Academy as an extremely positive program that will significantly help my peers and myself in the future. Science has many stimulating topics that have helped our world to advance. The STEM program will definitely push me towards the science aspects of life, allowing me to become more educated in the subject. I hope to be able to join the STEM academy to gain more knowledge in the fields of science and math, to be able to collaborate with others more efficiently, work independently, and to be triumphant in being the best student I can. I want to achieve beyond what is expected in an average student and expand on all my skills.
Fortunately, I have been able to participate in STEM enrichment programs outside of my community such as NCSU’s Caldwell Fellows SATELLITE Camp, PARI Summer Space Camp Connect, and Appalachian Regional Commission-Oak Ridge Laboratory STEM Academy. These experiences were pivotal in the development of my passion for the preservation of the environment, ultimately leading me to pursue a career in a related field. Recognizing the need for more exposure to STEM within my community, I hope that with the knowledge, skill, and resources I gain from receiving the Goodnight Scholarship and education from NC State University, I can provide my community a gateway into gaining more knowledge about STEM and what it has to offer. The world’s happiest place, a place where everyone and the kids want and need to go to, the place where families spend that valuable time together. #Going to Disney World is like unwrapping gifts on Christmas with family, friends, and loved ones. It’s a great feeling being able to go and experience that. There’s plenty of rides, games, sites to see, and walking at Disney. * It’s every little kid’s dream to go to Disney World and meet the one and only Mickey Mouse.
My solution is called Jump Into STEM!, which is a free curriculum that exposes middle school and elementary students to STEM-related careers. During this years SkillsUSA Nebraska Fall Leadership Conference, I used my state officer position to convey this solution to over 500 students and advisors. Another state officer and I created a fifteen minute session that exposed high school students the benefits of Jump Into STEM! , how it works, how to implement it, and the skills that can be gained. We presented this information and then gave them the opportunity to be the elementary or middle school students.

While in Middle School, my focus to pursue high grades drove me to join the AVID program to prepare me in my classes and my future towards college. By joining this class I learned to value the importance of organizational and effective studying skills necessary to succeed in college and beyond. With the help of my AVID teacher, I applied to STEM during 8th grade. Knowing that STEM courses were rigorous, I knew I wanted to surpass the next step and challenge my journey towards high school. Disney World is portrayed as the most magical place where you get to ride rides and meet movie characters in a fantasy world. This is everyone's perspective before seeing the total cost at the end of their experience and the amount of time they have wasted. Comparing what you put into the Disney experience (money,time,effort,stress) and what is reciprocated, Disney is a classic example of being overrated.

As a dreamer and queer woman of color, pursuing a career in STEM has been quite challenging. But I have never let anything get in the way of reaching my goals and dreams. An experience that was meaningful to me was the time that my entire family and I went to Disney from July 1st,2010 to July 14th,2010 it was such a great experience. Jumping with excitement the first time that I found out (Participle). It was going to be my first big trip with my mom’s boyfriend who is now my dad.
