Immediately after graduating college, I aspire to join the Peace Corps for two years, and help educate children in developing nations in core subjects. Through these activities, I will directly help those in need of proper education; additionally, as a result of this I will be able to develop and nurture my skills in public diplomacy, which will benefit me in my endeavors of becoming a diplomat. In terms of my future, it is my dream, to have a glimpse of the world, travel, have adventures,and learn ethnic cultures, all while promoting peace and prosperity wherever I go. Nearly a year ago, I began volunteering at Porter Adventist Hospital, and continue to do so weekly. Initially, I did so only to fulfill my community service requirements, however, at some point, my weekly commitment became much more. I became aware of the impact my presence instills, I had the power to brighten the days of patients, employees, and whomever walks through the hospital's doors and this is what drives me, which makes me eager to return weekly. At this point, I’ve fulfilled the required hours; with extracurricular activities, homework, and college essays and applications, it’s often difficult to manage my time, and it started to put a heavy strain on me. Nevertheless, I endure the hardships, because one smile is worth every second of my time. After volunteering and the desire to travel I found my calling as I spoke to a childhood friend back in the Philippines, when she told me about the blatant corruption and violent crimes that occur in the city I once called home. I plan to attend Colorado State University in the fall term of 2016 where I will expose myself to college at its fullest, work jobs, be a part of the work study, join clubs, play intramural sports, intern in embassies, and be a part of the community, and social gatherings thus earning friends I will cherish forever. I intend on majoring in international affairs and political science, while possibly minoring in philosophy. Being a state resident Colorado State would be a huge asset for me. I know I would be able to earn the financial means to attend here. In addition, its beautiful campus and close-knit and diverse demography I see myself enjoying the experience and loving the moment. Although Colorado does not bode well for International affairs and asian studies Colorado State University offers countless study abroad programs which would insurmountably benefit me because I am very sure it will broaden my perspective of the world, I would get to live with different nationals learn their culture and make friends with the people I meet. This cultural infusion would greatly help me when I graduate college and in taking my next step in life of becoming the diplomat I dreamt to be.
