As a low-income, first-generation Mexican American/college graduate, my personal identities and experiences uniquely position me to contribute to RFU’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts (DEI). Through my journey, I have encountered various challenges and triumphs that have shaped my perspective and deepened my commitment to promoting DEI in healthcare and beyond. My lived experience growing up in an economically disadvantaged and medically underserved community has heightened my awareness of the healthcare disparities and inequities that exist, especially being raised in a traditional Hispanic household. It has fueled my passion to address these issues and advocate for accessible, culturally sensitive, and equitable healthcare.
I want to enroll in Pre-AP English because I think it could help me in several of ways. This can help attain my goals because it helps me receive a higher gpa. I plan to contribute to Maricopa High School community by joining student council, if I join student council I would be involved in more things and can help at any events, I am committed to go above and beyond and I am self-motivated to do anything necessary. Skills that I have that are essential for advanced placement include someone who will try their best every day, someone who will go above and beyond in completing their assignments and are respectful and responsible.
My childhood was not most would consider to be easy. Both my mother and father had addiction issues that forced my younger brother and I to care for ourselves. By the time I reached the fifth grade, I had attended five different elementary schools. On the days that I did actually go to school, I was not on time. A few years later, I moved in with my grandparents, and my entire life improved.
Single Parent to Graduate Student Enrolling in Northcentral University, NCU to obtain my graduate degree in education is one of accomplishment and a new beginning to a new career. I have always had a passion for indifference, injustice, and making a difference. I have an associate’s degree in computer science and a bachelor’s degree in Human and Family Services. I went from having a degree in computer science to a human service degree because of a family tragedy that made me evaluate my purpose in life as an individual. When I became a Freshman in highschool, I had my whole life planned out. I knew that I wanted to grow up to be a famous singer. I was going to go to Belmont University and graduate with my Bachelor’s degree. I wanted to be in the spotlight. I wanted people to know my name and to sing my songs.
There are many different things that can impact students in their high school years. Whether these things are friends, activities, or the sports they participate in they all impact the student. Many opportunities are presented to students in high school, although not many impacts the student beyond high school, I believe this opportunity will impact me forever. I would love to be a part of the Early College Program this coming spring. I believe the program will do nothing but help me grow and strive to be a better student and continue being involved.
Statement for Scholarship This writing is to address why I believe I would be a great candidate for a first year study scholarship to the UNLV Masters in Nursing Program. I have never actually applied for scholarship funding before. I have always worked to finance my schooling, received Pell grant funding or taken out student loans. I believe that furthering my education is one of only a few reasons to go into debt, and because of that I have been willing to take on loans as a result.
I can vividly remember the advice given to me by my high school counselor. I was broken down, whispering to myself that I was not college bound. It was my counselor who made me realize that persistence was a key factor to continuing my education. The wisdom that was shared to me that day was instilled into my mind and was endorsed in my heart. I want to be the person that gives a glimpse of hope to students that need an extra push through education, just like it was given to me.
Personal statement Most people knew exactly what they wanted to be "since they were five". I never had a specific idea of who or what I wanted to be when I was that age and I certainly didn’t have a passion for English. In fact I wasn’t able to read or write until I was the age of seven, despite being at a disadvantage I used that as incentive to work twice as hard as the other students. However my interest for English literature only truly started to blossom at the age of thirteen when my sister lent me one of her book series.
Personal Profile for Katerina Koroluk School Involvement SAMS Student Council The student council at Sir Alexander Mackenzie School is a forum for the student body to express ideas and help better our school and community. During my time on the student council as treasurer, I helped run meetings and school events, such as dances. As a part of the student council I learned more about what students need and want in their learning environment, as well as gained better insight on my fellow student council members. The different visions for the school from each student helped broaden my perspective of learning and the school environment.
The more I don’t know, the more I know. The more I realize I don’t understand, the more I discover my desire to know more about psychology. My interest in educational psychology was triggered by my first experience in changing schools.
