Heartbreak. Sorrow. Solitude. Depression. Grief. Why does the bathroom have such a negative stigma in this world? It’s a place where people block themselves from the outside world and contemplate life. It’s a place that we consider as one of the dirtiest places, yet we clean ourselves there. It’s a home in which I can cherish and understand myself. To me . . . UChicago is also that home. Stepping into this otherworld, I view my enclosed surroundings and take in the air. On my left lies the digital bathroom scale; each day, I get flooded with numbers that vary throughout the day. I check my progress and wonder if my actions led to success or failure. UChicago holds Coterie Investments, an abundance of information that empowers investors with the knowledge to effectively compete against the financial markets. The vibrations embrace me as I forget about all the fancy pop-filters and sound equipment that studio artists utilize. The steam moisturizing my skin is just an added bonus. Even here, Uchicago does not disappoint through its famed a cappella group, Voices in Your Head.
