Perspective Change "Our loyalties must transcend our race, our tribe, our class, and our nation; and this means we must develop a world perspective." These are the words of the one and only Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a distinguished leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. Perspective change is an important tool when speaking in regards to other people’s feelings, and putting oneself in someone else’s shoes can have a tremendous impact on his/her outlook. My perspective on my mom changed greatly when she and my dad went on vacation for a week and left my brother and me with our grandma. I never realized just how much my mom did until she was gone. Trying to get ready for school in the morning was impossible. My grandma is a terrible cook, so I brought it upon myself to cook breakfast in the morning. The fluffy pancakes that my mom makes seemed easy enough for me, but they turned into a forty minute ordeal with many burned pancakes ending up in the garbage. I had to make sure that my brother did all of his homework, just like my mom does. There was lots of screaming and crying involved, and it sometimes took two hours just to do one math assignment. Needless to say, I had my own homework as well, and I was already very frustrated. As I was working on my homework, I would remember that again, I had to cook dinner because making my grandma cook would be a very regrettable decision. So I cooked dinner, cleaned the kitchen, washed the dishes, and tidied up the house a little bit like my mom does. By the time I was finished, it was already 10:30 p.m. and my homework wasn’t even done yet! I stayed up until midnight doing homework and I still had to wake up the next morning and do it all over again. It was a very exhausting
