Therapy is known to help people, to better either the mind, body or emotional state. So why have a therapy which has a purpose to loathe yourself?A conversion therapy camp is a religious program for LGBTQ+ members who want to or are being forced to go to become straight. Adults and teens all over the U.S are trying to change themselves or being forced to change because of something they did not choose. Reparative therapy can impact people, especially teenagers, in such serious ways. LGBTQ+ members in these programs and camps are being put through serious emotional and sometimes physical trauma. Conversion therapy camps are supposedly educational and self-discovering experience to better yourself and ”to reduce their same-sex attractions and explore their heterosexual potential.” …show more content…

If a program made to help people, why would it be illegal? Conversion therapy has existed for a very long time. People have been trying to “cure” homosexuality for decades. These methods have gotten less violent as people progressed to become more humane and more laws and rules were made to keep people from hurting others. Even if they are a bit more humane, this doesn’t mean they are humane enough. Conversion therapies are manipulating those who are either scared and not wanting to be there or desperate for a solution to something that should never have been seen as a problem at all.
