We won the moon race; now it's time for us to live and work on Mars, first on its moons and then on its surface (Buzz Aldrin)." People going to Mars is a very dangerous thing to do and it is also a dangerous place to live. I wouldn’t recommend going to Mars because it is too cold, contamination, and vacuum. Living on Mars is like living in a freezer. It is too cold to live on Mars even if you bring every warm thing you have. At typical nights it is -70 degrees Celsius. Mars has an atmosphere but, it is so thin it would count as laboratory vacuum on Earth. The pressure is so low, that your lungs would start to boil up to a point where you would stop breathing.A human would need to put on a spacesuit to survive the low pressure, never mind the lack of oxygen. The pressure is so low, your saliva and the moisture coating the interior of your lungs would boil. The average Mars surface pressure is well below the 6% Armstrong limit which absolutely is the limit for human survival. . Average surface pressure is about 0.6% of Earth sea level. A leak in your spacesuit would kill you quickly. No oxygen to speak of either ( (Science 2.0. Web. 8 Dec. 2015). The atmosphere does have some benefits, as a source of CO2, but even then, is low pressure so has to be pressurized to be useful. In a space colony, then you could make CO2 from the carbonaceous near Earth asteroids, it is not that hard to find ways to make it in space if you expand you habitat e.g. with greenhouses and need more atmosphere. And our atmosphere is mainly nitrogen and oxygen, only 0.04 percent CO2, and CO2 levels above 1 percent are hazardous to humans (Science 2.0. Web. 8 Dec. 2015). Every Martian summer, roughly every two Earth years, you get a higher chance of global dust storms. These can last for weeks, and the light from the sun drops by over 99% ( Science 2.0. Web. 5 Dec. 2015.). The whole surface of Mars is covered with Dust all over. Solar power wont work during the dust storms. Artificial light is needed in the middle to grow crops and you wont be able to see. The strongest winds would barely move an autumn leaf. Through the winds are hazardous. But, here is the weakness you can discover a lot of different things on mars. If people decide to go to Mars then that is really good for them, but I will still wouldn’t recommend it be cause it is not a good environment to surround yourself in
