Golf differs from other sports in many ways. It is a sport that a great number of people play, but most that play do not take it seriously. Most people that play golf do it leisurely with friends or for friendly competition amongst coworkers. There are people, however, that do take the sport seriously and work hard to improve and compete. Golf is an individual sport that has been adapted to be able to compete as a team. There are many ways for kids to be able to compete either as an individual or part of a team. There are also many tournament circuits for people to compete individually both in the spring and summer seasons. The distribution of wealth is higher in areas surrounding Indianapolis than in any other part of the state. The median household income for the state of Indiana is $50.4 thousand as of 2018. There are 20 cities in the state that lie above the state median. The top five stand well above the others: Zionsville at $118.2 thousand, Carmel at $106.5 thousand, Fishers at $97.1 thousand, Granger at $93.8 thousand, and Westfield at $90.0 thousand. These are all the wealthier cities that are just outside Indianapolis. Some of the most well-known uses of technology in the game of golf include things such as simulators, range finders, golf club fitting, and launch monitors. Simulators are very useful for practicing indoors during the winter. Simulators are able to show many things including swing speed, ball speed, distance, and accuracy. They provide useful information to help golfers improve even when they do not have access to a golf course to practice due to weather or in the winter. Range finders are very useful in the sport. They provide information on how far away an object is. Once a golfer learns how far they are able to hit the ball with each club, it becomes an extremely useful skill in terms of precision and accuracy. Range finders also have a feature that calculates slope and how far the golfer should hit due to whether it is an uphill or downhill slope to the green (“Then and Now: How Technology has Changed Golf for the Better”). The game of golf still has the same general concept that it did when the sport first began: swinging a club to hit a ball into a hole in the ground. Many things about the game, however, have since changed. The advancement of golf clubs is one such example.
