Hiroshima “The air-raid siren went off -- a minute long blast that warned of approaching planes, but indicated to the people of Hiroshima only a slight degree of danger,” Hiroshima was a city of anxiety as more and more cities in Japan had got destroyed. These air-raid sirens come on at the same time everyday and the people of Hiroshima had no idea what was coming for them. The atomic bomb was used on innocent people who, didn’t know what kind of bomb was coming, they didn’t know when or where the bomb will be, and the plane that dropped the bomb was not detected which didn’t allow people to prepare. The atomic bomb was a barbaric weapon that was not needed and shouldn’t have been used the way it was used. “I was one step beyond an open window when the light of the bomb was reflected, like a gigantic photographic flash, in the corridor” (Sasaki, Terufumi). Each city gave the same warning of bombings that could happen in their city. The leaflet also warns that either, some or all the cities listed would be bombed and that others not on the list could be bombed too. This warning says it all. Any city in Japan could be bombed and there is no specific target. Their warnings for them were too vague and made the whole country have more anxiety than before. To say nothing of how bad the bomb was going to be was not right and should have been explained in their leaflet. America wanted the people living in those cities to be evacuated, but when you add, any city not on this list may be bombed, there isn’t a safe place to go. The leaflet made it clear that the American Air Force “does not wish to injure innocent people” , but is fighting the military and not them. This was the only warning given to the cities before the first bomb
