Hunting is a sport, a pass time, a bonding period and an experience. There are so many reasons why people hunt and a lot of different creature people hunt. There are large animals such as deer, elk and bear. There is small game like doves, grouse, ducks, and even squirrel. People have different opinions about hunting, it is cruel, evil, unnecessary, and unsporting. There is also the conservation side of hunting that is not talked about and usually forgotten. Fish and Wildlife previously fish and game puts out a projected number of specific species that can be harvested each year. For instance, they put out two hundred fifty bear tags last year. When the number of harvest animals has been reached, the season is closed for anymore bear to be harvested. These numbers are generated from previous years’ bear counts and possible offspring that could be produced. In years past they have increased numbers for harvest on specific species of geese. The number was increased due to damages created to their nesting ground. There are too many geese for the nesting area to be efficient which means the birds have started to move to other nesting grounds. The move has pushed other species out of their nesting ground causing disaster for the other birds. They no longer have nesting ground because the geese have taken over. Even with the increased numbers for harvest hunters were unable to decrease the numbers enough to affect the overall number of geese. The Fish and Wildlife took a trip out to the goose nesting ground, the poisoned eggs and stomped the eggs to decrease
