Imagine a young woman who just got married at the age of 23. She is five months pregnant. By her seventh month, she has come across some complications. As weeks go by, the complications continue to get gradually worse. This poor girl is eventually rushed to the hospital. There, her symptoms are studied by medical professionals. She is then told that her complications are so bad that they might cost her her own life. She is now faced with a decision she has to make; saving her life by getting an abortion, or the moral problem of saving her child’s life and losing hers. Some woman have health problems before they become pregnant that could lead to complications during the pregnancy. For example, poorly controlled asthma may increase the risk of preeclampsia, poor weight gain in the fetus, preterm birth, and other complications. A mental example would be depression. Depression that persist during the pregnancy can make it hard for a woman to care for herself and her unborn baby. There are many other conditions such as Diabetes, HIV, and obesity that can affect the pregnancy. There are also problems that occur during the pregnancy. For example, Ectopic, which is when a fertilized egg implants outside of the uterus. Some symptoms of this would be abdominal pain, shoulder pain, and vaginal bleeding. There are also many different infections that can develop during your pregnancy such as bacterial vaginitis (BV), Influenza, and a sexually transmitted disease (STI). All these things could lead to a woman having an abortion. But not everyone can have an abortion. There are some cases where the girl might be too far along and will have to carry the baby to term. If you are under the age of 16 or above the age of 35, it is not recommended to have an abortion because it will be possible for those ladies to never have children again.
