US based car Fans should be very familiar with the Imported Vehicle Safety Compliance Act. If you are not sure what I am talking about, it might refresh your memory if I called it the 25-year import law. This law is in effect today because the Safety Compliance Act signed a document in 1988 to protect companies from the growing grey car market in the US. This legislation banned the importation of any car that was less than 25 years old. The Law should be dropped because it will provide more freedom for those who love foreign cars and will create a flow of money, thus creating jobs. First group of people are the ones who eat and breathe American muscle cars like mustangs and cameras. The second group of people are the ones who like the high-end sport cars like Lamborghini’s and Ferraris. Then the last one is the people who like the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) car. This group is most affect by this law. Because of this law, JDM lovers have never been able to drive or purchase their dream cars like the Nissan Skyline GT-R until recently with the R32, Honda Civic Type R, or any previous version of the Ford Focus RS, among many others. Without waiting 25 years so, the car can be old enough they can import them into the states.
