Adoption saves lives. Whether it’s with children or pets. According to the Last Chance Ranch Sanctuary, “Prior to the 1970s, most shelters were largely focused on humane euthanasia of animals that were not adopted or reclaimed.” When you consider getting an addition to the family, try to make the smartest choice. Although some people will argue that buying from a breeder is the best choice, because you see the environment your puppy was raised in, or with adopting from a breeder, you will have opportunity to train your dog from birth, to be how you want it to be. However, adopting from a shelter has many more benefits, and way less disadvantages. These shelters and adoption centers can’t support all of these animals forever. They are only meant to house and take care of these animals temporarily. Imagine all of the toys, and kennels, and blankets that these animals are needing. The people taking care of these pets are investing so much time into these animals every single day, and shelters are only getting more and more crowded. When you adopt a dog, “you support a valuable charity and community institution.” (3) “When you adopt a pet from a shelter or rescue, you assist a not-for-profit organization and will send a message to others who will be asking you for years to come where you obtained your adorable pet.” People will question where you got your dog and you can tell them that you saved him and adopted him from a rescue center.
