"Each year, more than 100 million animals—are killed in U.S. laboratories for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing." (PETA). Animals are being tested on a daily bases and are being tortured to prove the safety of products for human use. Lots of times animals are tested on but fail to show the effects of products. The federal government should pass a law to end animal testing. I will be discussing animal testing regarding medications, animal testing regarding cosmetics and why some people may think animal testing is right.

According to Ph.D Robert Palazzo, "Americans are living longer, healthier lives and we owe much of that success to biomedical research” (Palazzo). For example supporters of tests being conducted on animals think animal testing is necessary in order for humans to get the necessary medication to live. Supporters also think Animals are the best option for human products to be tested on because they are most similar to humans. Animal testing is not the reason for saving lives of people. According to the Humane Society International, "Independent scientific reviews demonstrate that research using animals correlates very poorly to real human patients. In fact, the data show that animal studies fail to predict real human outcomes in 50 to 99.7 percent of cases" (Humane Society International). This shows that animals are not similar enough to humans because they fail to help humans. Animals are not similar enough to show what might happen to a patient taking the drug although it does not effect the animal it might put the patients life at more
