Books worldwide are being held hostage from public schools and students that go to elementary schools just because the books have different types of representations in them like LGBTQ+ and race. Reading and storytelling with babies and children promotes brain development and imagination, develops language and emotions, and strengthens relationships. But imagine taking some of those options out because of the close minded conservatives that don’t like the idea of kids learning about those things while in elementary school. I think that they should leave it how it is with all the types of representations of others so they can see themselves in books just like all the straight and white people. One of the reasons why I think that books shouldn't be banned is because I feel like Parents may control what their own children read, but don't have a right to restrict what books are available to other people. Parents have all the right to control what their own children read but when they are trying to limit other kids from reading what they don’t allow their kids to indulge in it becomes a problem. kids should have the freedom to do anything that's made for them …show more content…

That there's something wrong with them or that they shouldn't be who they are. In the end it also takes away their ability to connect to their learning. Books allow kids to portal to different life experiences and reading encourages empathy and social-emotional development. But when you take these away it's like you're deleting their history and imagination. it feels as if you're putting their minds into a box and locking it. But kids will be kids and they are going to be curious and they will eventually unlock the box
