Human Genome Research, a relatively new field in biology, a field that is used to help people cure diseases and improve the quality of life. Being that this is a new field there is still a lot to discover Human Genome Research has its benefits of creating medicines specific to one’s genetic code, finding ways to eliminate deadly genetics diseases, and also trying to improve the quality of life for future generations. However, this research still struggles to convince everyone, especially people who have great concerns with bioethics, cloning and, insurance policies. The whole idea of bioethics are widely based upon personal experiences, which can bias one, one way or the other. “Some are deeply personal: bearing a child, watching a loved one suffer, living with a devastating disease, facing death.” When society hears "stem cell research" they have high expectations of the technology. Scientist are worried that their expectations will exceed the actual technology that is currently in progress. While people are looking forward to the technology, they do not like that the scientist are going against bioethics right now. Common citizens and physicians do not realize the struggles that these scientist go through to research this topic, scientist entire careers on the line. Scientist are trying to see if dietary factors have any genetic relevance to metabolic diseases or if it is just environmental. A greater risk for later in life since it is a noncommunicable disease (Kotze).
