In Solano County, where I live, it has been raining on and off for the past couple of weeks. However, everyone in the community knows that rain alone isn’t enough to end California’s drought. Water conservation is important to end water wastage. I have changed my own daily routine to conserve water. California has a major agricultural industry, so the drought has a severe impact economically and environmentally. Even though California is not going through an exceptional drought anymore, it’s still a matter of grave concern. People still think of water as a free resource and take it for granted. If this continues, the drought will not end anytime soon. As mentioned before, recently, city sprinkler systems play a major part in water wastage. Basic timers make sprinklers go on no matter what the weather is like. However, with technology that can enable sprinkler systems to only turn on when needed, we can save large amounts of water and gradually push the state closer to the end of the drought. It would be more efficient if irrigation systems supplied water for sprinklers based on soil’s need for water instead of running on a
