Awareness and knowledge of childhood cancer will need to improve dramatically within the general public. There are multiple ways to get awareness out to people all over the world. However, the ratio of response needs to be of value compared to the cost of awareness. In other words, the money spent to advertise the facts of this deadly disease needs to be low when compared to the dollars received from the donations brought in by the advertising. People all over the world watch YouTube or have a Facebook account. One inexpensive solution would be to put campaigns regarding childhood cancer on social media, like Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter. This would allow people in all countries to become informed of the facts. Once the public becomes informed and realizes that childhood cancer itself is a large problem, they would have the choice to donate to the funding of a campaign promoting the research of childhood cancer treatments (The Plan). This would bring about the needed increase in awareness. If advocates could get the focus of the pharmaceutical companies to shift just slightly from the priority being profit to a theory of years of life lost due to this disease, there would be an overwhelming response and increase in funding on their behalf. The greatest impact may not be how many people the drug is reaching but how many people the drug is curing.
