The College Board inc. reports the average private institution charges 31,231 dollars per academic year; I’m not responsible for every college students' response to this amount, however, I don’t have a full time employment nor a savings account with that amount currently available. While the price of education is climbing, the value of a college degree is as well. Few employers will interview or accept employee’s without degree’s in their field of business; with this demand for college degrees paramount for future success how can we bring equal and quality education to students without charging obscene amounts of money? Whether the institute raises tuition, or increases the ambiguous student fee students become the new financial life line, without the glory of having their name on a building. This issue is one currently effecting my ability to learn, prosper, and succeed at my academic institution. With the building of our new academic and dining complex my student fee has been increased 9%, tuition raised .4% dollars, housing raised 3.5%, and so forth. The numbers alone appear insignificant; however, when fully calculated I will be paying thirty three hundred more per year for my education than this previous academic year (all figures calculated from the Belmont University cost estimator for 2015 & 2016). This number will continue to grow in the following year I am here, and for so long as my University continues to have doors open. I apologize for the financial doom and gloom, however, this predicament I find myself in every college student does, rising costs of education without a break in FASFA returns, scholarship awards, and grant petitions. What’s a college student to do?
