By 2020 the makeup industry is estimated at approximately 429.8 billion dollars and along with that number is a total of over 100 million animals that die each year. Makeup has become a huge part of society and the economy. Over the course of these few years, it has made much growth in the business industry. Women all around the world use an excessive amount of money on cosmetics but sadly don’t realize what happens behind the scenes in these companies they pay. Cosmetic companies without question test on animals and this harms them in an unbearable way. They do lab tests on these animals and sometimes injects them with harmful substances. Companies began to ask questions like: “Is lab tests on animals really necessary?”, “How can we assure the safety of our products?”, “Are the deaths and misery of these innocent animals worth sacrificing?”, “Would it be better if we were to find a new approach?” They began to reestablish the testings for safety within their products and overtime found newer ways to approach their problem. In 1991 a few companies started to search for other methods to reduce animal testings and transformed the makeup industry. The year of 1991 created a domino effect in the makeup industry and in the following years, other companies began to mimic their footstep. Laws were created to prevent animal testings became prevalent and in 1998 Britain made it illegal to do animal testings with the cosmetics and the ingredients that it consisted. People began to become more aware of the cruelty within the makeup industry and started several movements around the world. By doing this they have shown these companies that these tortuous testings should be abandoned but companies had a hard time shifting their
