Should kids under the age of seventeen have a curfew law of 9 pm? No, because there are many activities or situations that teens do which they are not responsible for being out past 9 pm. There are many school related activities that students attend that can go to as late as 10 pm. Yes, most teens stay out and try to be trouble makers, yet a 9 pm curfew is not going to help it's shown that the average teen crime rate has gone up in a few states that have already passed this law. Plus, most teenagers also have jobs and what are they supposed to do if they don't get off work until 10 pm or 11 pm we shouldn't need choose between getting fired because people can't ever work late or take a fine for the curfew. But the teen crime rate has gone up in the past few years higher than ever been. Teens are acting out more trying to show that they don't care about the curfew laws, so people think that making the law even earlier will help. Yes, most teens do their acts of crime around 11pm to 12pm. So if we make the curfew law about 10:30 pm or even 11 pm and we send out the cops at around this time they would most likely catch the teens right in the middle of their act of crime. That would do the most effective objective to lower the teen crime rate, but putting the curfew at 9 pm and your county sends out police to run around town for an hour to find teens to fine. Guaranteed most teens will probably wait out the cops and boom, they hit like graffiti a highway or trashing the streets or the worst they could rob or steal or break into the stores. So putting an earlier curfew law wouldn't be the best decision for states to do if they want to lower the teen crime
