Teen driving has become a bigger issue each and every day as many crashes result in death. This is a huge issue as vehicle crashes among youth kill over 5000 people per year and needs to be addressed now. Teenagers are being lost daily and action must be taken. Older drivers are not at the same risk as the youth due to inexperience, bad judgment, and pressure. The rate of car accidents increased when more teenagers were on the road; the importance of driving guidelines has been forgotten and needs to be re-enforced to ensure the safety of youth when on the road. “In 2010, crashes caused by teen driving injured 282 000 youngsters and killed another 2700” (Azul, www.everydaylife. globalpost.com). This is a huge issue and needs to be taken care of to help protect young adults. 15% of deaths inside a vehicle are made up of drivers aged 15-20 (Teen driving, Linda, 2009). Teenagers are driving under the age of 16 without a license and are making unsafe decisions for themselves and everyone around them which is why young adults should not be able to drive. “Among 16-20 year olds, the fatality rate in motor vehicle crashes was twice the rate for all ages” (Linda, 2009, pg. 12). The dangers of driving only get worse and put more and more teenagers die each year which decreases with added age. “Statistics show that 16 and 17 year old driver’s death rates increase with each additional passenger”(Dosomething.com).
