Water has changed my views in so many ways, especially because of the statewide drought. This statewide drought made us not use as much water as we used to. It affected us. We were limited to the source of water we could have used because of this drought we were having. It made me appreciate water a lot more because when I didn't have the same amount of source of water that I used to, I couldn't shower for long amounts of time, but now I don't shower that long even if we aren't in a drought anymore. I don't want our community to go back to that stage where we had to be limited to our source of water. It would scare me knowing that we didn't have as much water as we used to. We, as humans, rely on our source of water. We can survive without …show more content…
Water keeps us going because we need to drink water to keep our body functioning. We need water to shower. We need water to feed plants/trees because they give us fruits, snacks, and vegetables. We need the vegetables to feed the animals that we consume to keep going on our day. Without water, we can't function properly. I used to think as a little kid that our water source was unlimited because we do live on a planet where the percentage of water exceeds that of dry land. Little did I know that we can drink all the water we have. We can only drink some types of stream waters and etc. Our pollution is killing off the drinkable water. Well, not just the pollution, but also the people who waste water and don't care, but they will start caring the day they find out that the earth is running out of drinkable water and they are going to wish that they have never wasted as much water as they had. I always thought why we could not invent something to make the ocean water, drinkable. We are not that advanced yet, which does suck, but hopefully one day we can do something to convert undrinkable water, to a drinkable …show more content…
Water Year 1924 ranks as 3rd driest out of 117 years, from a runoff perspective, and driest out of 122 years, from a precipitation perspective. In WY 1924, California only received 9.94 inches precipitation resulting in 26.9 million acre-feet (MAF) runoff statewide. Water Year 1994 ranks as 6th driest out of 117 years, from a runoff perspective, and 9th driest out of 122 years, from a precipitation perspective. In WY 1994, California received 15.13 inches precipitation resulting in 33.7 MAF runoff statewide. By contrast, the statewide mean precipitation is 22.45 inches for the period from 1901 through 2000. The lowest statewide runoff on record is 15.5 MAF in WY 1977; the highest is 201.7 MAF in WY 1983. ” this was stated by the USGS water department. As we can see, droughts are nothing new and they get worse every time. We do not learn from our mistakes, but we have to find a way to stop droughts once and for all or else we will end up dying of dehydration, hunger, or from no maintaining our bodies clean. This is all because we do not take care of our water systems and we do not appreciate it, but we only appreciate what we had once it is completely gone forever. We have people helping out the community and also changing their pipes and etc to a less water usage solution so they do not overuse water and so they can
