In Ohio, around 101,000 teens used illegal drugs last month. Of those 101,000 teens, 74,000 used Marijuana, while 48,000 teens used other drugs besides Marijuana (Inspiration Youth). This problem may come from the students, but schools and parents should crack down more on what happens in students’ lives. As a student, I am qualified to talk about the issue of faults in the drug testing because at this school, or any school in this area students are able to get away with doing drugs without being tested. Those who are doing drugs will eventually harm themselves or others, which puts my life and education at risk. The drug testing policy is a problem because at the moment a limited number of students are tested once a month. This definitely leaves a small chance of actually testing a person who uses drugs heavily, or even just occasionally. There is also the fact that the students who are drug tested are in extracurricular activities, athletes, or drive to school. For students who don’t drive or aren’t involved in any activities at school are exempt from drug testing, and no one would know for sure whether they are using drugs. The drug testing policy is also an issue because it is time-consuming. For example, one drug testing session started at the beginning of sixth period.
