When people announce that they are expecting a baby the normal reaction is “congratulations!”. When you announce you are adopting the reaction might be a little different, but when you are a gay couple the reaction is completely different. For years the practice of adoption has become more popular among people. However, in recent years people have questioned the ability to raise a child of families of the same sex, but the reality is that there is no proof they are not capable. Families of the same sex should be allowed to adopt because there are millions of kids around the world who needs the love and support that these people are willing to give.

Same sex parents tend to be more committed in the raising of a child than heterosexual parents because they chose to be parents. Is rare when a gay or lesbian person become parents by accident, compares to the 45% of accidental pregnancy rate among heterosexual. 27% out of this 45% was considered mistimed and 18% unwanted. If you compare the enthusiastic of gay couples when they begin the process of adoption, it is very different from heterosexual adoption. When it comes to the option of adoption it is normally the first option of a gay couple. For most of the heterosexual couples they have been trough a long journey of trying to conceive a baby and their last option is the adoption. Of course this makes gay couples look at the situation in a more positive way.
Most of the kids who are available for adoption are there because they suffer of abuse, abandonment, or both. And because of this abuse or abandonment these kids have difficult of learning, they can have a tough time getting emotionally attached and they can suffer of development delay. All of these kids are special because they are different, and for very different reasons gay people know what being different feels like.
