GMOs in Crops GMOs, also know as, Genetically modified organisms, have been around since 1994. Many people have concerns about GMOs. Are GMOs harmful, or do they reform our society for the better? GMOs are commonly criticized in daily culture. People are worried about the harm that GMOs may cause. During this time, GMOs have been an asset to the way society is growing. GMOs have renovated a new area of genetically engineered plants. Critics claim that GMOs are poisonous to us,the ecosystem, or might be a black lash to GMOs. Genetically modified organisms are changing the world for the better because of the improvements seen in the plants, the farms enhance production, and the people benefit from GMOs. Our population is growing “UNESCO predicts that food production will need to rise by 70 percent by 2050” (Ronald 10). “For thousands of years we altered the genetic makeup of our crops”(Ronald 17). We need to keep changing our crops like we have done before to survive. GMOs are a positive thing for us. It increases food for us, and can make it healthier for us.”GMOs have been created for third world countries that would improve the quality of life in these developing countries” (Martin, Enns, and Stewart 20). GMOs advance the quality of living, and the quality of life. GMOs can improve the way we live. People have concerns for if it causes health issues. “We looked at a lot of evidence and found no apparent health risk, says Timothy Griffin, PhD, an associate professor at Tuff’s Friedman School and director of the agriculture food and environment program”( “GMOs as Safe as Conventional Choices”2). Presently there are no apparent health risks in GMOs, and a profusion of food are produced.
